This event will be held in partnership with the Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome on Saturday, September the 19th 2026 - why not join us then at this ticketed event (with tickets available from the Stow Maries website below) to learn more about the development of Military communications through the ages.
Little had changed in Army communications until the incept of the Second World War - there was simply no funding.
Heavy reliance was instead placed on Field Telephony and visual signalling. As the war clouds gathered, the production of more up to date equipment was started and a technological revolution would take place on the Wireless side which would mean more compact, powererful units.
The end of the second World War, quickly gave way to the cold war, with valve operated equipment being superceded by solid state electronics - evolution, RATHER than revolution would define the future of communications, both in peacetime and conflict.
This event will demonstrate, through the evolution of military communications we've arrived at the modern day mobile phone.
This is a ticketed event, and tickets will be available from the 1st of January 2026 at the Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome website - we'll update this page once tickets are on sale there.
